Ben Knight and Gemtree Moonstone Albarino 2008

Gemtree Moonstone Albarino is described by the winemakers as "A deliciously zesty and punchy wine! Pears, melon and citrus fruits are all evident in the front to mid palate. The palate is a two-fold experience: characters of Italian pinot grigio pedigree, with weight and texture and then the back palate is all racy and riesling-like, with wonderful acidity."

Tin Chef 2008 took over the food court of the Footscray Market yesterday, with a chaotic and colourful homage to SBS TV's Japanese cult show "Iron Chef". The winning chef was Richenda Pritchard from Delizia Cucina in Seddon with her knock-out dish of Cointreau Zabaglione with Fresh Raspberries and Strawberries. Losing by only four points was runner up Lien Tran from Bo De Trai Vegetarian Restaurant with her dish of Dried Bean Curd Assorted on Fire Plate.

Over 1,000 people attended the event, which featured DJ-ing by Fiona Scott-Norman, hosts with the most Shirley Billing and David Nguyen, and expert judging from the likes of Matt Preston from Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Mary Ellis from Slow Food Victoria, rock chick and all round legend Rebecca Barnard and Rebecca Hoswell from the Fifteen Foundation.

The crew from Born in Taxi were also there to ham it up with the large crowd and Bart Beek to keep things following in the kitchen.

My main task was to ask questions for other publications so not everything was answered in full. In case you missed it Adria was launching his book “A Day [...]
